Náplavka Farmers Market

Náplavka, the affectionate nickname for the farmers market located at Rašínovo nábřeží (near Palackého square) in New Town's Prague 2, translates to “at the riverbank”, and that is exactly what this market is. Located on the riverbank walk, you can stroll through market stalls while enjoying the sun, cooled by the breeze off the the Vltava river. Boasting views of Prague Castle, Petřín Hill, and situated just a few blocks from the famous Dancing House, this location is perfect for residents and tourists alike. Tourists will experience an entirely authentic and new side of Prague and Czech culture, while residents can bask in local traditional products, get to know the sellers and try new delicacies each week as new items are in season. Seasonal favorites include fresh green Czech asparagus from the nearby town of Mělník, fresh strawberries from Kunratice on the outskirts of Prague and other areas of Bohemia, as well as summertime favorites such as freshly picked apples and pears. Czech bread and baked goods from local family bakeries are not to be missed, and the vegetables found at farmers markets such as the beloved Náplavka Farmers Market are of a significantly higher quality than those typically found at grocery stores, which have recently been under scrutiny for lack of adequate quality control. Shoppers can feel at ease knowing that the vegetables, fruit, meat, eggs, cheeses and other dairy products such as fresh milk or yogurts, bread or sweets, that they buy from the farmers markets are of a superior quality and produced by those who care about great food that is locally sourced. You can meet the farmers and other producers selling their products at the Náplavka Farmers Market and ask them personally about their products, and you will see their enthusiasm and feel good knowing you are supporting the farmers and their families as well as doing the local economy and environment a good turn. Your carbon-footprint is significantly lower when purchasing from farmers markets, and the local economy is significantly benefitted by local buyers. Bring your own reusable bag to add to the good karma of the day; go green, and buy local at your favorite farmers markets in Prague! You can do this each Saturday until December 22nd at the Náplavka Farmers market from 8:00am- 2:00pm. Many trams, including 3, 4, 7, 10, 14, 16, 17, and 21, stop at Palackého Náměstí, or you can get off of the metro at Karlovo Náměstí (yellow B line, only 2 stops -5 minutes- from the central Můstek hub station) and exit via the Palackého náměstí street exit, just a few seconds walk from there to the left and along the riverbank to this favorite Prague 2 farmers market.
