Konvikt

Do you fancy a glass of well-poured beer? Enjoy a golden beer at a traditional Czech beer house that breathes history and features fine drinks together with a great menu full of Czech traditional dishes! Pubs have always been a place where the political mood was created and deepened, where broad layers of the general population came together to discuss current events. Although the Internet is where the political debates take place nowadays, some of the traditional Prague pubs have managed to preserve their original form and purpose. Konvikt is definitely one of those places. This sought-after beer house and restaurant situated on Bartolomějská Street, a few steps from Národní Street and not far from Wenceslas Square, offers top-quality tank beer, starters that are designed to harmoniously complement the beer, soups, main courses with meat prepared in all sorts of different ways and also traditional desserts. The offer also includes a daily special, dishes for children and vegetarian options. Konvikt is one of those traditional beer houses that boasts a team of professional bartenders who know how to serve beer properly. Thanks to which, the Konvikt pub satisfies even the most demanding beer drinkers. Success of this legendary place is evidenced by the great amount of both locals and tourists visiting this place as well as hundreds of positive reviews available on international online forums. The history of the building that houses goes back to the 12th century, the name itself refers to the time when it belonged to the Jesuits, most of whom were young and noble and lived there together – Latin expression "convivere" stands for "to live together, cohabit". During the centuries, the main building together with the adjacent structure went through many construction changes. The whole complex was sold to private owners in the 18th century and served as an organ school (with many famous pupils including Antonín Dvořák). A century later, the first Czech ball initiated by leading representatives of the Czech national revival (such as Josef Kajetán Tyl, the author of the Czech national anthem, and Karel Hynek Mácha, a famous poet) took place there. Drop by Konvikt and experience the unique, historical spirit of this place! Open daily from morning to the late night.
