Diplomatic Academy

If you lead negotiations of non-profit organizations or private businesses, work in the field of international communication between bureaus or represent a department within a state administration, then you will certainly need the art of diplomacy taught by the Diplomatic Academy in Prague, the first institution of its kind in the new EU member states. Its mission is to bring up individuals that will feel self-confident in representing an institution. Emphasis is put on connecting the theory and practice and interdisciplinary. The basic contribution of studying at the Diplomatic Academy is close contact with the most capable teachers with long-term experience at the highest political, official, diplomatic and academic posts. The teachers at the academy include Vladimír Špidla, the former Czech Prime Minister and EU Commissioner, Cyril Svoboda, a lawyer and politician and Vladimír Pikora, an economist and financial analyst. Besides the above-mentioned teachers professionals experienced in the everyday routine of protocol, official communication and media communication also teach students. The interactivity of the studies is enhanced by practical trainings, strategic games, simulated negotiations and performances in the media, and by simulated ceremonial events. The one-semester main program of the Diplomatic Academy dealing with current diplomacy is comprised of 150 hours. The program is taught partly in Czech and partly in English and its attendance is conditioned by a successful passing of the First Certificate in English (Cambridge ESOL) or a similar exam. The Diplomatic Academy further offers two-day programs Protocol and Etiquette and Media Communication. All programs take place on Friday afternoons and on Saturdays.
