Giant Aquarium in Hradec Králové

The ENVI building, housing a giant aquarium in the center of Hradec Králové, was opened in 1998 and offers its visitors the possibility to get acquainted with tropical freshwater fish and the natural environment of the exotic tropics. In a giant freshwater aquarium there live more than 40 species of tropical fish occurring in fresh waters of South and Central America that float here in a tunnel above the visitors' heads. The aquarium weighing some 130 tons is home to more than 500 adult fish, some of which measure more than 90 cm in length. Before you get to the giant aquarium, in the first part of the exhibition space you will see a temporary exhibition and then walk through a warm tropical rainforest with 89-90% humidity. You can delight in the beauty of orchids, bromeliads and tillandsias. You may be sprinkled with a tropical rain or artificial fog, thanks to which your experience will be even more authentic, so dress accordingly. At the end of your tour you can buy a souvenir or supplies for your own aquarium at the on-site pet store. You can refresh yourself at the Piranha Café and at the same time watch these predatory fish. In the building there is also a family sports facility, so if you still have some spare energy left after the tour you can play ricochet with your family members, visit a weight & cardio fitness room, or just relax in the sauna. Every Thursday from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. you can watch a scuba diver feed the fish from his hand in the aquarium. The aquarium is closed on Mondays.
