Villa Richter

Located on an ancient mass of bedrock close to the grand Prague Castle is the lovely Neo Classicist Villa Richter, which features three restaurants. Built in the 1930s by architect Josef Peschka, the villa overlooks the city of Prague and St. Wenceslas Vineyard and provides incomparable views of Lesser Town, Old Town, New Town and the winding snake like Vltava River. St. Wenceslas Vineyard dates back to the 10th century A.D. and has been recently renovated; the vineyard features the grape varieties of Pinot Noir and Rhine Riesling in a total of 2,500 heads. The Pinot Noir grape has its beginnings with Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, who brought the variety to Bohemia from France. The Rhine Riesling grape was planted during the recent renovation. Apart from the villa’s visual pleasures, the villa also features many gastronomical delights in its three restaurants headed by experienced chef Petr Hajný (Piano Nobile, Piano Terra and the Panorama Pergola) making it a true culinary oasis in the center of Prague. Piano Nobile serves fine French fare in the atmospheric setting of the villa’s staterooms, which feature rich Old World charm and gorgeous views of the city. Piano Nobile also boasts a unique greenhouse with a grapevine motif and crystal chandeliers. Piano Nobile, where you can experience fine dining at its best, offers mouthwatering delicacies and an extensive wine selection of over 2,500 stored wines, all of which are stored inside the mass of bedrock that is under the foundation of the villa. What is more, the sommeliers of Villa Richter will be happy to suggest culinary pairings with their best select wines. The Piano Terra, located on the ground floor while also featuring a spacious terrace, offers local specialties. The traditional Czech fare, including pastries and baked delicacies are made according to their grandmothers’ recipes, ensuring their authenticity and taste. The third restaurant, the Panorama Pergola, open during the warmer months, is an al fresco area attached to the side of St. Wenceslas Vineyard, making it the perfect place to sample wines from Bohemia and Moravia alongside light gastronomy.
