Leica Gallery Prague

In the center of Prague sits a wonderful contemporary photography gallery that features not only a great exhibition hall but also an attractive modern cafe and bookshop. Leica Gallery Prague, established in 2002 in the Supreme Burgrave's House of the Prague Castle, and located in their permanent New Town location since 2008 focuses on exhibiting contemporary Czech and Slovak photography. The gallery has one main goal – to give to the general public more knowledge of contemporary photography. There are several ways this goal is being achieved by Leica Gallery Prague – the gallery presents 6 to 7 onsite exhibitions per year, supports other photography exhibitions in Prague, presents photography in a unique fashion (outdoors in public spaces , etc.), and participates in the Paris Photo exhibition (now for the 4th year as the only Czech gallery). The gallery also exhibits international photographers and has had the privilege to show such famous names as Elliott Erwitt, Mark Ellen Mark, Anton Corbijn, Helmut Newton, Leni Riefenstahl, Edward Steichen, René Burri, Sebastião Salgado, Antonín Kratochvíl, Wim and Donata Wenders, Ruud van Empel, Sarah Moon, Michel Comte and Andreas H. Bitesnich. The onsite cafe is a great place to enjoy fine coffee drinks, a glass of wine, fresh homemade desserts and light snacks, while the bookshop offers an extensive collection of photographic publications – should you need to add to your own personal coffee table book collection.
